Kazan, Russia : Indian women’s hockey team went down 1-2 against formidable Netherlands Antillies in their second group encounter of the Olympic qualifiers here Sunday.
The Indian eves started their campaign on a winning note with a comfortable 3-1 victory over hosts Russia Saturday but slumped to a loss Sunday.
Both teams grind it out in the first half. Netherlands Antillies scored just before the breather in 31st minute through a field goal from Claire Visser.
The Indian eves started the second half with more purpose and drew parity in the 43rd minute through Rani Devi.
The Netherlands Antillies registered the winning goal in the 55th minute through a field goal from Maria Hinskens.
From then onwards, the Indian eves pressed hard for an equaliser but it was not to be as Netherlands Antillies registered their second consecutive win in the tournament.
In the other matches of the day, Belgium thrashed France 5-0, while the US blanked Russia 6-0.
After a rest day, India will take on Belgium Tuesday.
