The demonstration is being organised by the British Muslim Initiative, Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) and Palestinian Forum in Britain and is being supported, amongst many others, by Stop the War Coalition, the biggest network peace organisation in the UK.

The Free Palestine rally was calling from the end of six decades of illegal Israeli occupation, the brutal siege of Gaza and the right of the Palestinians to return to their homeland.

The PSC said the 60th anniversary of the creation of Israel was a “day of shame, not celebration” with the world being presented with Jews escaping from Europe.

“What you won’t be told about is what actually happened in 1948 – a series of massacres, bombing of civilians, kidnaps and other terrorist atrocities that culminated in the ethnic cleansing of the land of over 750,000 Arab Palestinians and the destruction over 400 of their villages,” it said.

The demonstration was being supported by many British trade unions, student organisations, relief agencies, religious groups of all persuasions as well as peace movements.
