Kandahar, Afghanistan : A suicide bomber struck a Canadian military convoy Sunday in southern Afghanistan and killed a boy, while a U.S.-led coalition soldier was killed in an operation in the west, officials said.
The bomber struck the Canadian convoy in the southern city of Kandahar, said police officer Abdul Karim. One boy was killed and two other boys were wounded, he said.
Capt. Fraser Clark, a spokesman for Canadian troops in Kandahar, said three soldiers were wounded and sent for treatment at the military airfield.
One military vehicle appeared to be damaged, according to an Associated Press reporter at the scene.
In western Farah province, a U.S.-led coalition soldier was killed during an operation Sunday, the coalition said in a statement. It did not provide any further details.
