Noida : Rajesh Talwar, arrested Friday and charged with the murder of his daughter Aarushi and the domestic help, was Sunday visited by his family at Dasna jail in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh.
Nupur Talwar, who meet her husband at around 11 a.m., looked calm and composed as she came out. Jail Superintendent V.K. Singh said the family members met Rajesh Talwar for 20 minutes.
“We have full faith in Rajesh and he is innocent,” said his brother Deepak Talwar.
Aarushi, a 14-year-old Class 9 student of Delhi Public School (Noida), was found dead with her throat slit and multiple stab injuries on her face, chest and neck May 16.
Their domestic help, 45-year-old Hemraj, the initial suspect, was found dead on the terrace of the house the next day.
As they came under attack over the blunders in the investigation, the police then insisted that Rajesh Talwar, a prominent dentist, killed his daughter as she came to know about his affair with another dentist, Anita Durani.
Inspector General of Police (Meerut range) Gurdarshan Singh told reporters Friday that Talwar had objected to his daughter’s alleged close relations with Hemraj, prompting him to kill them both.
But Anita Durrani and her husband have both denied any affair, while psychologists have taken the police tio task for casting aspersions on Aarushi without any proof.
Meanwhile, police searched the Talwars’ home in Sector 25 of Noida once again Sunday morning and seized Aarushi’s computer. They also questioned Nupur Talwar again.
Police have already seized Rajesh Talwar’s laptop and said they got several leads from it.
Well placed sources in the investigation team said Nupur Talwar could be interrogated further.
She was not given a clean chit and her role was being scanned, they said.
The family’s former servants including Vishnu Thapa and Raju Nepali too were not given clean chits, they added.
Nupur Talwar, also a dentist, Saturday told mediapersons that the police had falsely implicated her husband and had also gone beyond their brief by by casting aspersions on his character and that of their daughter.
“The killer is out there,” Nupur told a TV channel, echoing her husband’s claim that he was not the murderer.
The court of the chief judicial magistrate is to hear Talwar’s bail plea Monday, when the police also plan to seek his remand in their custody.
