Mottaki made the remarks in a press conference here, adding that “our aim is not to interfere among Lebanese groups or in Lebanese affairs.”

He hailed Doha dialogue, saying “the first fruit of Doha dialogue was the election of Gen. Suleiman as president.”

He accused the United States of interfering in Lebanon’s political affairs, adding that “we should inform the Americans to stop interfering in Lebanon.”

Mottaki arrived in Lebanon on Sunday to attend the presidential election. He met Monday with the newly elected Lebanese President Michel Suleiman.

Lebanese parliament approved Sunday Michel Suleiman as new president for the country.

The election comes following a deal reached in Doha between the ruling majority and the opposition.
