A statement by the Army on its website said the strikes targeted 16 bases of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), also known as the PKK, in the mountainous spot of Hakurk northern Iraq.

The Turkish Army had and still is executing parliament-approved military operations against the PKK since last February, where more than 2,000 of PKK believed to have lost their lives.

The parliament’s green light of launching the attacks ends next October.

Thousands of people have been killed in years of tit-for-tat attacks involving the Turkish regular forces and the Kurdish guerrillas.

The PKK advocates establishing a separate Kurdish entity in southeast Turkey.
