Dhaka : At least 50 people were injured in a series of blasts inside a hotel in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka early Monday, private televisions channels reported.
According to Ntv Network, the blasts occurred in three rounds between 10 p.m. Sunday night and 1:30 a.m. early Monday in the 12-storey hotel Orchard Plaza located near civil centre in the capital city.
Fire service officials were quoted by TV channels as saying that though the actual cause of the blasts was not clear yet, they suspected blast in gas pipeline and short circuit inside the hotel could have caused the blasts.
Many foreigners were also injured in the blasts and there was no fatality reported yet.
Fire Service men, members of joint forces including Army, local police and paramilitary personnel engaged in the rescue operation, the TV reports said.
