The delegation expressed deep concern over the trend whereby police and investigating agencies are suspecting only Muslims for the May 13 serial blasts in Jaipur. This attitude has wrecked havoc among Muslims, especially Imams, Maulvis, Mdrasa teachers and management across the state. It is learned that so far about 500 people have been detained, sent for to the police station or questioned at their home. All of these people belong to the Muslim community. This has created panic and mental agony among the community, the delegation felt.

The delegation led by Qari Mueenuddeen, convener of Rajasthan Muslim Forum, comprised Er. Muhammad Salim, state president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Forum secretary Nazimuddeen, communist leader Waqarul Ahad and MLAs Emaduddeen Khan, Brij Kishore Sharma and Mahir Azad. Representatives of other organizations included P.K. Sharma, state president of PUCL, Kavita Shrivastava, secretary general of PUCL, Sawai Singh, convener of Sadbhav Manch Rajasthan, Habeeb Garnet, chairman of Maulana Azad Foundation and Shamsuddeen, president of Human Welfare Society.

The delegation wondered that while according to the law the police cannot detain anybody for more than 24 hours for investigation, in this case some of the detainees have passed more than 18 days in detention while no case has been registered against them. The delegation conveyed the feelings of the common Muslims that this manner of investigation has weakened their trust in the police and investigating agencies.

The delegation asked the SOG what prevents investigating agencies from suspecting other organizations and why they did not investigate into the possibility of involvement of individuals or organizations other than those belonging to the Muslim community.

The delegation demanded that the people detained so far, should be released immediately if no significant proof has been found against them. The SOG in-charge Laksman Meena assured the delegation that their grievances will be taken into consideration. The delegation also talked to the DG Police and conveyed the feelings of the Muslim community to them.
