Jakarta : An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted the Java Island of Indonesia Thursday, the meteorology agency said.
No reports of damage or casualty have been reported. The quake occurred at 0519 GMT, officials said.
The epicentre of the quake was located at 154 km south-west of the Lumajang town in East Java province.
Indonesia sits on a vulnerable quake zone called the “Pacific Ring of Fire”, where two continental plates meet and cause frequent volcanic movements.
