Yuliatono, secretary general of the Awaken Indonesia Committee, was sent to the National Police Headquarters and questioned all evening, China’s Xinhua news agency quoted headquarters spokesman Inspector General Abubakar Nataprawira as saying here on Saturday.

Eight police cars were damaged by protesters in the rally, and one was completely burned down. A car of the research and technology state ministry was also set on fire by the protesters.

The action has been criticized by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

The police earlier had named five suspects in the rally, but National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Chief Syamsir Siregar said someone whose initials were “FY” was the “mastermind” behind the protests against the fuel oil price hikes.
