Al-Moallem presented an invitation to Suleiman from the Syrian president to visit Damascus, possibly in a week or 10 days, according to Lebanese press reports.

Last week, Al-Assad and Suleiman met in Paris during the Union for the Mediterranean summit, and announced their willingness to establish diplomatic links, for the first time since Lebanon gained independence from France in 1943.

Syrian and Lebanese official sources said that during their meeting, Al-Moallem and his hosts are expected to discuss ways to improve relations, as the atmosphere has turned more favorable with the election of Suleiman as president.
