New Delhi : In a bid to raise awareness about social ills like corruption, crime and nepotism, television news channel NDTV India is launching a mini-series named 'Bombay Lawyers' based on inspiring legal cases.
Announcing the launch, NDTV India Managing Editor Dibang said, "The show is in sync with our ideology and is part of our endeavour to present a socially responsible programme without any sensationalism and obscenity".
"It has always been our endeavour to offer viewers innovative and contemporary programmes closely related to social issues," Raj Nayak, chief executive officer NDTV Media, said at the launch Tuesday.
The serial that goes on air July 21 revolves around Roy & Raghavan, a law firm, committed to working against injustice. It aims to move beyond legal jargon and capture the experience behind every legal battle.
National Award winner Satyajit Bhatkal has written and directed the show.
"It is a courtroom drama about real issues, people and conflicts, but in the emotional grammar of fiction. I am delighted to work with a channel, which is socially conscious about contemporary issues," Bhatkal said.
Renowned theatre and television personalities like Meeta Vashisht, Murli Sharma, Rushad Rana, Jyoti Dogra and Kadambari Kadam will play the role of lawyers.
The hour-long show will be aired every Saturday.
