Ramallah : The Israeli cabinet approved the release of five Palestinian prisoners in implementation of the recent prisoner-exchange agreement with Hezbollah in a session Sunday.
Radio Israel reported the men were convicted of throwing stones on Israli Army personnel. The release is likely within the next few days, it reported.
The agreement between the two sides enabled the release of five Lebanese prisoners including Samir Qantar who spent 30 years in Israeli jails, in addition to the handing over of remains of 199 Palestinians and Arabs in return for handing over of remains of two Israeli soldiers killed in the early days of the Israeli war on Lebanon in 2006.
The UN-brokered deal brought joy in Lebanon and Arab territories whereas it confirmed the gloom and conjectures as to the fate of missing Israeli soldiers.
