Lucknow : After a lull, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi is all set to launch the second phase of his "Mission 2012", aimed at revival of the party in Uttar Pradesh.
The charismatic Gandhi scion who undertook padyatras and addressed rallies during April and May, would restart the exercise from Oct 2.
While the last rally was addressed by Rahul Gandhi in Ambedkar Nagar town in eastern Uttar Pradesh, the new destination would be somewhere in the western part of the state.

Patna : Janata Dal-United (JD-U) chief Sharad Yadav's name is missing from the voters' list in Madhepura Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar, an official said Saturday.
"The district administration will look into it," an official said, admitting that the name was mysteriously not from the list of Ward 19 in Madhepura town. Yadav is a Rajya Sabha MP.
Yadav was elected to the Lok Sabha from Madhepura thrice but was defeated in 2004 by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad. Yadav was reportedly keen to contest from Madhepura again.

New Delhi : There may be a deadlock in the sharing of ministerial berths but the DMK would be back, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Friday after the swearing- in ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
"They are our valued colleagues. They will come back," he told reporters confidently.
Speculation has been mounting over the DMK's inclusion in the cabinet and the council of ministers. On Friday, after talks failed, DMK chief M. Karunanidhi said they had decided to extend only outside support to the government in New Delhi.

Ranchi/Jamshedpur: Security forces tightened their cordon in Jharkhand on the eve of the first phase of assembly polls, fearing largescale disruption by Maoist insurgents.
In the first phase Tuesday, 26 of the 81 assembly seats in the state will go to the polls.
Altogether 470 candidates are in the fray, of whom 212 are Independents and 34 are women. Godda, JMM founder Shibu Soren's constituency, and Tundi have fielded the maximum number of 25 candidates each. New Delhi : Pandemonium reigned in parliament Tuesday - the first working day of the monsoon session - as a united opposition vociferously demanded an immediate discussion on rising prices followed by a vote, leading to repeated disruptions and finally adjournments of both houses.
As the government ruled out the voting on the spiralling prices of essential commodities, opposition MPs refused to let the houses function.

New Delhi : The Rajya Sabha was adjourned on the first day of the monsoon session of parliament Monday after tributes were paid to former vice president and chairperson of the house Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.
In an obituary reference, Hamid Ansari, the chairperson of the upper house, said Shekhawat was a forward-looking politician who worked in the politicial and social spheres of Rajasthan. He made a mark as the chief minister of Rajasthan thrice and as the vice president of the country.

Ahmedabad: Senior advocate Ram Jethmalani, who is representing Gujarat's former minister of state for home Amit Shah in the Sohrabuddin Shaikh killing case, Monday said he intends to move the Supreme Court seeking recall of its order handing over investigations of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Addressing the media here, Jethmalani said that the CBI's case lacked substance and did not have any "credibility". "I still don't know what their case is and what it is trying to prove," he added.

Guwahati : The regional Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has emerged as the biggest loser, while the minority-based Asom United Democratic Front (AUDF) has turned out to be a major spoiler for the ruling Congress party in the 2009 general elections in Assam.

New Delhi: A day after newly elected four legislators of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) assaulted Samajwadi Party member Abu Azmi for taking his oath in Hindi, a Delhi resident Tuesday moved the apex court seeking registration of a criminal case against MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
The lawsuit filed by Delhi resident Salek Chand Jain also sought the apex court ask the union government to approach the Election Commission of India to derecognise the regional outfit as a political party for its "sectarian and regional policies".
