TRS chief resigns as MP

By IANS, Hyderabad: Hours after Home Minister P. Chidambaram made a statement on the Telangana issue, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao Wednesday resigned as MP while five party legislators also sent their resignations to the assembly speaker Rao sent his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar stressing the need to hold consultations with all political parties on the formation of a separate state. TRS sources said KCR, as Rao is popularly known, faxed his resignation to protest the government move to put the Telangana issue on the backburner.

BSP to contest all 11 Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh

By IANS, Raipur : The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will put up candidates for all 11 Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh in the upcoming general elections, the party's state chief said here Sunday. "The party will contest all 11 Lok Sabha seats on its own," Dauram Ratnakar, BSP's Chhattisgarh president told IANS. "The names of the candidates will be announced by February-end," he said. The BSP had won just two seats out of 90 in the assembly elections held in November 2008. But it had polled 6.11 percent votes with a strong showing in at least 18 segments.

CBI hunts for Gujarat home minister over 2005 killing

By IANS, Ahmedabad: Gujarat Minister of State for Home Amit Shah became a hunted man Friday for his role in the 2005 killing of an alleged Islamist terrorist after a court rejected his anticipatory bail plea amid a looming Congress-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) showdown. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) mounted a massive search for Shah, a close aide of Chief Minister Narendra Modi, after naming him as an accused with 17 others in the murder of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, 37.

Lok Sabha adjourned over Indian envoy’s comments

As soon as the house met, opposition and Left MPs were on their feet denouncing Sen's reported statement published in a US-based news website. They were not satisfied even with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee's explanation that Sen's comments were "totally unwarranted and unacceptable".
