New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs at the Centre has announced relaxations for the victims of Gujarat 2002 riots in criteria for the recruitment in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP), a central government force that runs under the ministry.
The government has issued on September 7 a full-page advertisement regarding recruitment of Sub-Inspectors (Overseers) Group “C”. In the eligibility conditions for the post the government has given two relaxations to the children and dependent family members of those killed in the communal riots of 2002 in Gujarat.
Apart from relaxations they can avail as SC/ST/OBC candidates, these victims will be eligible to apply for the posts in any state/UTs if they fulfill other conditions. More importantly, five years of age relaxation will be granted specially to these victims. To avail these relaxation the candidate will have to produce the certificate from concerned districts wherein the victim was killed.
These two relaxations will also be availed by the children and dependent family members of the 1984 riots.
In total there are 61 vacancies under the post, of which 34 are unreserved while 7 are reserved for SC, 2 for ST and 18 for OBC.
The age limit for the post is 20-25 years. There will be relaxation in age upto 5 years for SCs/STs and upto 3 years for OBCs.
The last date of receipt of applications is October 20. However, October 27 will be the last date for North Eastern states, Ladakh Division of J&K, Lahaul & Spiti and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshdeep.
As for educational and professional qualification for the post, the candidate should have the certificate of matriculation or equivalent with Diploma in Civil Engineering from an institute recognized by the Central Government.
Method of selection will comprise physical measurement, physical efficiency test, written test, interview and detailed medical examination.
