President of Assam United Democratic Front, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal demanded extradition of Taslima Nasrin in a letter written to the Prime Minster Mr. Manmohan Singh.
Blaming both left and right wing of Indian political scene of using Nasrin as political gimmick, he requested the prime minster to extradite her from India. He blamed CPI(M) for taking their decision to send Nasrin out of West Bengal with an eye on dwindling support for left parties among Muslims of West Bengal.
Maulana Ajmal accused the BJP for always against Muslims’ sentiments in India, earlier they were in support of Salman Rushdie and now they are “trying to exploit the Taslima case in its favour,” alleged Maulana Ajmal.

“It will undoubtedly be a wise decision on behalf of seventeen crore Muslims in India,” said Maulana in the letter. He added that “no mainstream Muslim or Muslim organization favours her stay in our country” blaming her for her insults on Prophet of Islam and Islamic doctrines.
Maulana who is also the president of the state unit of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind said that those Muslims who are in support of Nasrin are “either Leftists or BJP agents.”
