“Unknown armed men opened fire on Iraqi army vehicles around midday while passing through Baghdad’s area of Bab al-Muaadham, killing three soldiers and wounding two others,” the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, a roadside bomb detonated near a youth center in Zaafaraniya district in southeastern Baghdad without causing casualties, the source said.

Also in the capital, the source said that police patrols collected three unidentified bodies dumped in two different parts of Baghdad during the past 24 hours.

Violence and daily gruesome finding of unidentified bodies continue in Baghdad despite the announcement of the U.S. and Iraqi officials about a steep drop of violence as a result of a major security plan aimed at checking the insurgency and sectarian strife.
