In a letter to the Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Brinda Karat, MP and member of CPI (M) Polit Bureau, has described VHP and Bajrang Dal as a threat to the security and integrity of the country, says a report in the Urdu daily Hamara Samaj.

Karat has demanded action against the Hindutva extremist organizations so that their terrorist activities could be contained and communal atmosphere could be saved from being poisoned.

Mentioning recent violence against Christians in Orissa, she said that the activists of these organizations not only used weapons in the violence but also firearms to set afire homes and religious buildings.

She also wrote that Nanded blasts and Kanpur blast in which two Bajrang Dal activists were killed while making bombs, should not be taken in isolation.
