Soren appeals for funds for Bihar flood victims

Ranchi : Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren appealed to the people of the state to raise funds for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood affected people of Bihar.

Soren’s appeal was advertised by the state public relation department in local newspapers Wednesday. “People of Jharkhand are with the flood victims of Bihar,” says the advertisement.

It further says: “We appeal to government and non government organisations, educational institutions, businessmen and other people to deposit money in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The donation will be free from income tax.”

The Jharkhand government has already given a grant of Rs.100 million and food grains to the Bihar government for relief work.

“We share the grief of the affected people. Jharkhand will do the needful to help. Bihar is our elder brother we will contribute generously,” Soren said Wednesday.

In Jharkhand different political parties and NGOs are raising funds for the flood affected people of Bihar.

More than ten trucks of food grains other supplies have been sent to Bihar in the last one week.
