Bodyguards of JD-U leaders suspended for distributing sweets

Patna : Five policemen were suspended for distributing sweets among Janata Dal-United (JD-U) workers in Bihar’s Rohtas district during the filing of nomination papers for the Lok Sabha polls by politician Mahabali Singh, officials said Thursday.

“The five police bodyguards were suspended Wednesday on charges of distributing sweets among JD-U workers during the filing of nomination papers by Mahabali Singh in a violation of the model code of conduct,” Rohtas Superintendent of Police Vikas Vaibhav told IANS.

Mahabali Singh, a former minister who quit the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) last week and joined the JD-U, is contesting from the Karakat parliamentary constituency.

The suspended policemen include two bodyguards of Mahabali Singh and three of JD-U legislator Jai Kumar Singh.
