TMMK chief trashes Tamilnadu BJP chief’s lies about Babri Masjid

Chennai: Professor M.H. Jawahirullah, president of Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK), has rejected the statement of Tamilnadu BJP president L.Ganesan regarding the Babri Masjid. Like his Sangh Parivar, Ganesan had said the mosque was built on the debris of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Ganesan had alleged that the Babri Mosque was built after razing down the Ram Temple which existed earlier. “L.Ganesan’s mud slinging against the facts of Babri Mosque is a vile attempt of reaping vengeance,” said Prof Jawahirullah. L.Ganesan’s false elaboration that Babri Mosque was built by Babar in the year 1526 after razing down the existent Ram Temple in commemoration of Babar’s victory is nothing but a blatant lie.”

Professor Jawahirullah said that when Babar invaded India, Sultan Ibrahim Lodhi was the ruler of Delhi. The Battle of Panipet was fought between Babar and Lodhi. However, both Babar’s as well as Lodhi’s armies composed of soldiers drawn from both Muslim and Hindu communities. Babar won the battle and then established the Moghul Empire.

“The allegation of L. Ganesan that Babri Masjid was constructed to commemorate Babar’ victory is a lie as the foundation stone for the Mosque was laid by Ibrahim Lodi in 1523. In the beginning the Mosque was known as Lodhi Mosque or Fort Mosque. While the Moghul Empire took root into Awdh province Babar’s Govenor Mir Baquee visited Ayodhya and saw a half finished Masjid. He completed the construction and renamed the Mosque as Babri Masjid,” Jawahirullah.

L. Ganesan’s contention that Babri Masjid was constructed on the debris of Ram Temple is wrong as prominent and established historians like R.S. Sharma, Sushil Srivastava and Sher Singh have after elaborate research established meticulously that there was no Ram Temple in the site where Babri Masjid was constructed. Besides a number of witnesses who lived during the period when Babri Masjid was constructed have also vouched for the fact that there was no Ram temple which was razed down by Babar to construct the Masjid. For example, Tulasidas the famous poet who translated and popularized Ramayan in Hindustani was a 30 year old youth living in Ayodhya when Babri Masjid was constructed. He has not written a single line in his masterpiece Shri Ramachandra Manas to condemn the destruction of a temple dedicated to his Lord as such an event did not take place at all. Besides, Guru Nanak visited Ayodhya during this period and though in his Guru Granth Sahib he criticizes Babar’s rule, he too has not blamed Babar as a ruler who destroyed Ram temple to construct a Mosque, Jawahirullah said.

“The hostile ill feeling of Britishers taken aghast and consternation on the first freedom fight in 1857, conspired in 1870 raising a platform in the campus of the Babri Mosque with a Ram’s statue. This is a known notorious fact.The concept of Babri Masjid site being Ramjanmabhoomi was a creation of the Britisher’s “Divide and Rule” policy.”

Babri Mosque which stood as symbol of secular democracy was pulled down with the coterie of RSS, Bajragndal, and BJP. Justice Liberhan’s commission vouches the facts.

Professor Jawahirullah expressed regret for the blatant lies, ignorance and vengeance of L.Ganesan.

L. Ganesan had also said that Babri Masjid is a national shame and Muslims should give consent to remove it as the Christians have not opposed the removal of the statutes of King Edward and King George in Chennai recently. Both these statutes were removed by the state Government as they were in the vicinity of the new state Assembly and Secretariat.
