New Delhi : In an apparent complete about turn of sorts the Hindu extremist organization RSS has demanded from the Central Government that more than fifteen thousand mosques that are under the possession of the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) and which are open for tourism purpose and for the praying purpose – be immediately restored for the praying and handed back to the Muslims for better management.
The RSS has also demanded that illegal encroachments on vacant land of Mosques should be removed with immediate effect.
The Sar Sangh Pracharak of RSS had demanded in a press statement that all of the Waqf properties including the Mosques which are presently under illegal possessions of others must be taken away immediately from them and handed over to the Waqf Board.
Critics dismissed these demands as just the poll gimmick to woo Muslim voters to vote for the BJP. They termed it as an attempt to cover up the anti-Muslim face of the BJP.
While on the other hand RSS completely rejected this theory and contend that these are not new demands rather the RSS is raising this issue for quite some time now. So it is unfair to relate this with elections.
