Haneef sues former Australian minister

Melbourne: Mohamed Haneef, an Indian doctor who was falsely accused of aiding terrorists, has launched defamation proceedings against a former Australian minister.
Haneef's lawyers said they lodged the suit against former immigration minister Kevin Andrews in the Supreme Court in Brisbane Thursday, Australian news agency AAP reported.
A claim has also been made for unlawful arrest and abuse of power against the government, the report said.
"The proceedings have been filed on behalf of Dr Haneef simply as a safeguard to protect his legal rights with regard to the time limits which apply to the various legal actions," Rod Hodgson, Haneef's lawyer, said in a statement.
The 30-year-old physician, a former Gold Coast registrar, was held in Australia for three weeks in July 2007 after being charged with supporting a terrorist organisation by "recklessly" giving his mobile phone SIM card to people planning bomb attacks in Britain.
Andrews was strongly criticised when he cancelled Haneef's visa, just hours after a magistrate granted the doctor bail.
The charges against Haneef were eventually dropped and he returned to his family in Bangalore.

More Sinister things are possible in India....
There have been many sinister things by individuals and many times by undeclared State policies like the detention of a Bihari labourer at Delhi airport and his second denial to board a flight to Gulf. Had he protested at the first instance, the BPO security appratus of the West in India could have relented. The harrasment without booking/arrest and then letting off the victims is a oft repeated act and reminds one of similar act by even a SP in Meerut to a Hafiz who was travelling in a passenger train. May be this is imparted using the manuals put together by the RSS/VHP/BD combine who are more powerful that the ISI etc of Pakistan. One need to read 'Who Killed Karkare'? with impartiality and deduce why we have recurring bomb blasts in India and despite the arrest of the numerous 'masterminds' the bombings continue. Surely, Hindu terrorism at macro (public) and micro (personal) targets and victims cannot be swept by use of 'quoted' words like 'nationalists' or 'trators'. The early India recovers the situation the better. Pakistan has already started pointing out the many hate mongers in India who had been ignored in the past because their victims used to be Muslims. The 'internal matter' of a 'export oriented democracy' has its own external repurcussions.

If you have really read "Who killed Karkare" then you would have said as Hindu terrorism but rather called it Brahminical terrorism. Brahminism is another name for racial terrorism.

Congrats Haneef. No-body can compensate to the damages you have born because of hidden agenda. But you have given hope to many.
Request all of them to approach International Criminal Court as well to put entire govt in to duck

Keep trying, one-day waiting for you with new dawn of respect and honor........
Keep going, and put cases in local, high and supreme court of India and drag all the names. Organize press conference here and there, media will avoid you first, but your insistence will make them accept your words. Then only these criminals will be brought to the public.
Can similar ACTION be done in India?
Dr. Haneef (Indian national) was WRONGLY ACCUSED by Australian Minister - and his name, image, career, and life are "permanently affected", just because of WRONGFUL ACCUSATION, POWER-ABUSE, RELIGIOUS-DISCRIMINATION, etc.
Many such CASES / INSTANCES happened in India, where young and innocent Muslim Youths have been WRONGLY ACCUSED, ILLEGALLY ARRESTED, THOROUGHLY TORTURED, FULLY PUBLICIZED, and then released UNCEREMONIOUSLY - WITHOUT even an APOLOGY.
Similar ACTIONS / SUITS been lodged against Police, Investigating Authorities, Elected Politicians, but JUSTICE favouring VICTIM(s) is to-date AWAITED.
Politicians in India, NOTORIOUSLY ABUSE their political-power, and escape punishment.
The day JUSTICE is GIVEN, and VICTIMS are COMPENSATION - it is a WIN for INDEPENDENT JUSTICE SYSTEM in India.
