Muslim groups meet minister on TN marriage registration act

Chennai: A delegation of representatives of Muslim social and political organizations (including Jamaats) met the Tamil Nadu Law Minister Thiru Durai Murugan at his office in state Secretariat on March 6 and made their presentation on the state government’s marriage registration law.
The delegation met the minister to thank him for his assurance that he would consult all prominent and concerned Muslims as well as all the Muslim political parties with regard to “Tamil Nadu Marriage Registration Act 2009” to clear the doubt about the act among the Muslim minority. The Minister had given the assurance on 19 February 2010.
The delegation also discussed various aspects of the issue with the minister.

The representatives of the parties who were present during this meet included Indian Union Muslim League, TMMK, Board of the Jama-atul-Ulema-National League, Muslim Social Movement, Indian Tawheed Jamat, Marumalarchi Muslim League, Makkal Jananayaga Katchi, Muslim Law Academy, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.
Apart from the law minister, the government side was represented by Thirumathy S Malathy I.A.S, Home Secretary, Thiru R.Sivakumar I.A.S, Director of Registration, Thiru.K Deena Bhandu IAS, Secretary to the Hon. Deputy Chief Minister, Thiru K.Raghupathy I.A.S., Deputy Secretary, Thirumathy Janaki, I.A.S., the Additional Secretary, Law Department.

Need 2 Laws
We need to have 2 laws in the country. One Shariah exclusively for muslims and present law based on constitution to all others. So don't have such problems in the future.
So others if they resort to violence will get 1 or 2 yr prison sentence while a muslim should be tried for death penality or what ever shariah says for the same crime.

Thanks Giri for accepting Shariah for muslims.However criminal laws of Shariah cannot be implemented exclusively on muslims.Therefore stop insisting on separate law for non muslims.If you resort to violence irrespective whether you are a muslim or no muslim you will get the same punishment.Unlike indian judiciary where corrupt judges and rss influenced holding judges have partisan and biased punishments against muslims.

i agree it is contract, but all the contracts like will power of attorney,etc. need to be registered why not this one?

Why cannot Muslims register their marriages like all others? how will they lose their "muslimness" if they register marriage. Either follow the laws of teh country, or get out of the country. This is too much!

You assumed by Muslim do not register while rest of India does just that. On the contrary, Muslim marriages are 100% registered as the marriages are solemnised with a contract called Nikaah namah and the copies of these are given to the parties while one is retained by the Qazi. If you have ready answer that the Qazi is not recognised, update your know and clean the muck in you mind. No community registers the marriage except those who go to court. The provision of court marriage is for the stranglehold of the caste to loose but unfortunately the cause celebre is alive and kicking.

TCN: If my comments are edited, I'd leave TCN as another paper tiger who allows one shameful comment while not allowing the rejoinder. I repeat, if calling a pig eater a pig eater is bad, the pig eater is ashamed of the act and he/she need to stop the practice.

Have you ever thought about the reason, why, Christians in spite of being a small small minority, have contributed significantly, much larger than their numerical strength, to the notion and cause of India? They consider themselves a part and parcel of this great country, get educated well, achieve, accomplish. They do not fight about burquah, or registering marriages, or cry discrimination. They try to excel, and many excel.

The only reason I see the cross-bearing community all over the world is the collectively bargain and undue favours shown by Hindus because they think these are counter to Muslims. We do no find any Sarkozy type comment on Orissa being taken positively by even the media. Take the case of honour killing, no Hindu case is analysed using religion while the glaring case of Diana being killed is a case of honour killing.
Another plausible reason is the elitist way of you people. A thick black Tamil convert too wears a shirt( blouse) and skirt, however ugly she looks into that outfit. The use of English while assuming that being christian is being English remained, Indian Muslims went too much regional while the system tried to purge them off Islam and Urdu. Currently, India is trying to do same even to Pakitan and Afghanistan, which of course is doomed. While India talks about what is being taught in Pakistan as history, the communalism is so deep in here that even criminal like savarkar has reached the parliament. Criminal gangs like VHP, SS, MNS, RSS are considered 'nationalist' and even gangsters like Chotta Rajan has been nationalised. The armed forces personnel of Afghanistan are fed with non-veg food and lots of bottle while they are told that there are no mosques around the cantonments. The now drunkard Afghans are automatically not able to questions why there are no mosques in camps which are supposed to be the common heritage of India and Afghanistan. No surprises that despite the billions put in there, India is not able to cut much ice due to the visible 'hidden' agenda.

What is wrong in registering the marriage? Registartion is Indian system not a Hindu system. Unless your community stop mixing religion in everything ,these nonsenses will not stop.

According to shariaa law registration is not necessary.it is a contract and the requirments of a valid nikah are 1-contracting parties should be major under the majority Act.2-there sould be proposal and acceptence.3-there should be two witnesses.4-there should be consideration(mehar)however small e.g 1 rupee.

Your ill education like most of ours thinks that only a sarkari registrar can register marriage. I am yet to see a Muslim nikaah where the record were not filled in and signed by the bride, groom and the three people who represent the bride and grooms with the publication of the same by the Qazi for the present public. This is the ideal marriage because shaadi/marriage is more of a social custom and not relgious one. People like Kurien always try to stone-wall things by posing more nationalist than the citizen while they themselves, the christian of India have their religious headwaurters elsewhere. Do not confuse with the Makkaah or Madinah because these mosques do not control any mosques while all the churches are centrally controlled, none of which is based in India. Cant you see the state of affairs of mosques due to this reason. Hosh ke nakhoon len aur auron ki nazar ki bajae saheeh nazar se cheezon ko dekhen.
