Will women quota bill strengthen only political dynasties?
By Shafee Ahmed Ko, TwoCircles.net,
Chennai: Whether women reservation bill will only strengthen political dynasties in India is a fear that has strong ground in the political history of the country which has seen several political families rising and capturing political power. Even today there are a dozen odd families which have considerable presence in both state and national politics. The female members of such families are ahead in the grab.
At present there are 59 women MPs. Majority of them are from Congress and next majority from BJP. Out of 556 women candidates fielded in the 2009 general elections only 10% of them are successfully representing now. Our Lok Sabha Speaker, though from Dalit community, is five time winner. However, most women MPs are from high class political families.

On women's bill the worry is if all the 33% MPs are drawn from such dynasties where the lower echelon and downtrodden have to find electoral opportunities: Merit is agreed. When the 80% of population is lower classes, we are ruled by 15% upper classes and mention is to be made that out of this 15%, a particular group of 2% dominate the entire nation by virtue of merit and eliteness. How many years more will the 80% take to have merits and eliteness? To achieve 16% education (to read and write) uplifment, it has taken 60 years, how many year will India need to achieve advancement at par with all elite groups?
Have a look at some political families.

By Shafee Ahmed Ko persists with his trainer's default
Shafee Ahmed Ko presented good information but i must say that he is persisting with his defaults set by his trainers, if he had few. His reference to name with common names instead of real on, e.g Mufti Muhammad Saeed as Mufti Mohammed and Sayeed.
I must declare here that he is of no use as is the case with Mr Javed Akhtar, who instead of commenting on women reservation and the reservations of Muslims on this, talked nonsense like divorce etc. Though bad, divorce is not the biggest problem of Muslims while marriage is. Though he is a sworn non-Muslim, how media presents him as one shows the intention of the media. Does non-Muslims expects Muslims to accept this type of people as 'intellectuals' of the community who just want to dig rot instead of suggesting cleaning it. There is no denying that there is a rot and mere digging is not the way to clear it. The sadist criticism by weak hearted Muslim after 1947 is more problematic than many well meaning Hindus who are default humane. You cant expect them to do more for you than you yourself are doing. The accusation of 'appeasement' also falls under this.
PS: The many newspresenters in e-media studios does not mean that Muslim participation has been established. They are like the 'soldiers of Israel' palestinian origins elogised by media for denigrating the Palestinian cause.
Hindu ladies inheritance act was enacted in 2005 only while it should take atleast 100 years to be implemented. How India expects the poorer sections to have rights, is not after 150 more years.
Women Reservation Bill and Indian Muslims
The day of March 09,may be the historic but for Indian muslims,OBC and others, this day brought the message of political destruction. For the muslims whose representation decreasing with the passage of time(Less than 50 M.P.)both at the centre and State level, this Bill proves another deliberate dagger striking. In present time ,the indian muslims are far behind in the political power sharing with other communities. The muslims of India would not opposed this bill if there would be certain provisions for them.
1 Reservation of certain seats for Muslim women .
2 Provision in the political parties to reserve their ceratin paercentage of seats for minorities,OBC etc.
Now the Bill has been passed by Rajya Sabha, the muslims with other communties should try to ensure that:
1 The reserved seats for women should not be muslim majority constituencies.
2 There should be watch on the name list of the political parties for women reserved seats.
3 To support the regional parties of their respective states both for the state goverment and centre.
4 No love for any political party for granted.
5 To set up a committee to analysis the damage from women reservation bill to muslims political power.
shameful day for democracy/ congress showing true colors
Cong+ BJP+ Left is projecting opposition to bill in current form as opponents of women and their interest.
In fact they are talking about women who are bottom of social ladder. These elite and rich do not want those to come in parliament.
In the name of women quota, upper cast has secured 1/3 seats in parliament.
This was done in most undemocratic manner by issuing whips and sonia acted as dictator.
Today Marshels entered in Parliament, tommorow Martial Law/ emergency.
Congress showing its true colours.
Cong+ BJP + Left are anti dalits, lower class and minority.
Minority can NOT hold majority to ransom
In a democracy MINORITY can not hold the majority to ransom by spreading violence. Minority can express their opinion but must allow everyone else also express their opinion too. That is democracy. But when 7-8 MPs try to hold the RAJYA SABHA to ransom, they just have to be thrown out. It is a bit like TERRORIST with AK47 holding hostages- the MPs may not have AK47 but they were resorting to violence.
If a few HINDUTVA fanatics obstruct a religious festival of MUSLIMS would it be acceptable? Wouldn't the affected Muslims request police protection? it is same case here too. The "anti-womens bill fanatics" obstructed the rajya sabha and they had to be expelled by rajya sabha police.
whipocracy in the name of democracy
It is unfortunate that only these minority member are representing Majority population (close to 80%).
What kind of democracy is this, in which agenda and wish of one person(sonia) was forced on people without taking care of concern of majority. No all party meeting was called b4 voting.
What is use of whip in democracy? Is this not the tool for dictator?
They should have voted without whip.
same was not said in Shah Bano case.
same was not said in Shah Bano case and a MUSLIM MINISTER resigned on the issue but Mr Rajiv Gandhi rammed the constitutional amendment with his 3/4 majority.
