Karachi : Pakistan’s sports fraternity Tuesday welcomed the news of former cricket captain Shoaib Malik tying the knot with Indian tennis star Sania Mirza next month, calling it great news.
“It’s a welcome news, Sania is world famous and I am happy for Shoaib Malik,” said Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, Malik’s teammate.
“I hope their wedding will also help to improve Pakistan-India relations.”
Pakistan hockey team’s experienced striker Rehan Butt wished a happy married life for the couple.
“It is a good news, both are famed players of the region,” said the Lahore-based Olympian. “It shows people from both the countries like each other.”
Pakistan’s tennis community also greeted the news. “Sania is a good girl and the news of her wedding with Shoaib Malik should be welcomed,” said Aqeel Khan, Pakistan’s top tennis player.
