City corporator Amjed Ullah Khan has written a letter to the Commissioner of Police to take action against the SIT Officials for leaking selective news against Muslims to the Telugu/English media to tarnish the image of Muslims.

“The investigating agency Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Hyderabad Police is leaking investigation or confidential statements or reports to the selected English/Telugu print and electronic media with an aim to tarnish the image of Muslims,” Amjed Ullah Khan wrote in the letter dated May 10.

“There are some officials in SIT whose mindset is against Muslims. This has been done previously by the SIT officials after the blast of Mecca Masjid also. When the Muslim youths were arrested on suspicious grounds the CDs of Narco test and confessional statement were released to TV9. The said electronic media played the said CD for more than a weak. Now that it has been clear and the real culprits of Mecca Masjid blast has been caught by the CBI the said electronic/print media is quit,” he further said adding: “This shows that there is a nexus between some police officials and media to tarnish he image of Muslims as anti-National and Terrorist.”

He demanded necessary action against the guilty SIT officials.

“Hence it is requested to take necessary action on report appeared on 9th May 2010 in Deccan Chronicle page 5 in which the source of report has been said as SIT. A clear cut instruction may also be given to all the officials of SIT not to give copies of investigation reports without prior permission from the Hon’ble Court,” wrote Amjed Ullah Khan, Corporator 35, Azampura Divn.
