JUH takes U-turn over Ayodhya verdict

By TCN News,

New Delhi: After All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AlMPLB) and many other Muslim organizations rejected the Allahabad High Court verdict on Babri Masjid title suit and decided to move Apex Court against the verdict, Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind (JUH) has now taken a U-turn on its earlier stand to accept the verdict as it is.

JUH has now expressed its dissatisfaction over the verdict and supported the option to move Supreme Court against it at its national executive meeting held on 19th Oct at its headquarters in New Delhi.

“Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind deplores that the verdict of Allahabad High Court did not fulfill the requirements of justice and was very much against expectations. However, this was not the final verdict. There is room for challenging the verdict in the Supreme Court” says JUH press release issued after the meeting.

Explaining the importance of Babri land in the light of Islamic Shariah it asserted that it is duty of Muslims to struggle for the historic mosque maintaining law and order.

“Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind unequivocally declares that once a mosque is built, according to the principle of Islamic Sharia it remains a mosque forever. No forceful or coercive occupation can change the status of a mosque. Therefore, the Muslims can never give up their claim to any part of the mosque which has been used as a mosque uninterruptedly for the last four hundred years. Muslims are duty bound to struggle for getting possession of the Babri mosque through peaceful and judicial process” reads the release.

It should be noted here that earlier three senior JUH leaders—MP Maulna Mahmodd Madani, secretary Niaz Ahmed Farooqi and Kamal Faruqi had been publicly advocating for acceptance of the Ayodhya verdict terming it in favor of Muslims as well as the country.

Interestingly, all three are also members of AlMPLB and were present at its meeting held in Luknow on 16th Oct. wherein it was decided to take the case to the Apex Court.

However, JUH has constituted a committee to study the verdict deeply and to decide future course of action in the consultation with senior lawyers in this regard. The committee consists of Maulana Qari Mohammad Usman, President JUH, Maulana Mahmood Madani, MP Rajya Sabha, Niaz Ahmad Farooqui, advocate Delhi High Court and secretary, JUH, Maulana Moiezuddin and Shakeel Ahmad Syed, Advocate Supreme Court.
