PFI welcomes compensation, demands action against police officials

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh state president of Popular Front of India (PFI), Mr. Mohammed Arif Ahmed has appreciated the decision of Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for releasing Rs 70 lakhs as compensation for the innocent Muslim youths who were falsely accused, arrested, tortured and put behind bars for the crime they didn’t commit – blasts at Makkah Masjid in 2007.

A blast occurred in the historical Makkah Masjid of Hyderabad on on Friday, 18th May’ 2007 in which 9 people were killed in the mosque and 5 others were shot to death in the police firing, when they were protesting against the blasts.

G.O. No.4268 dated 06-12- 2011 was released by the A.P State Minorities department for releasing a fund of rupees seventy lakhs to compensate the innocent Makkah Masjid blast victims.

PFI has demanded the state government “to take strict action against those police officials who were responsible for filing false cases, illegal detention & inhuman torture of those accused innocent victims and also clean the State Police & Intelligence department from the influence of the communal fascist forces.”

The organization also demanded raise in the amount of the compensation, ‘good conduct’ certificates for the innocents accused and also support them with suitable government jobs.

Mr. Mohammed Arif Ahmed also urged the Central government & other state governments to initiate the same like the A.P state government in their states to release, lift cases, compensate & rehabilitate those innocent Muslim youth falsely accused & arrested in connection with different blasts but later acquitted by the court.
