New Delhi: Community leaders have reacted strongly to the act of brutality by the Bihar police in which it killed six innocent members of the minority community when they were protesting against the blocking of a connecting road between two villages at Forbesganj block of Araria district in the Indian state of Bihar.
Talking to TwoCircles.net, Dr. Manzoor Alam, general secretary of Milli Council criticized the Nitish regime very strongly. “It doesn’t matter what kind of secular rhetoric Nitish Kumar uses, going by the way innocent Muslim labors have been killed at pointblank, it seems that there is no difference between him and the RSS.”
Directly hitting at the police brutality and the way police chased the unarmed villagers, entered their houses and killed them, not sparing even women and infants, Dr Alam said that the general pattern of police is to fire on Muslims because they have realized that they can kill the members of the minority community without being brought to justice.
Demanding immediate action from the Nitish government Dr Alam said that if at all Nitish Kumar is concerned about his image then he should take immediate action against the responsible officials and provide compensation of at least Rs 7 lakhs to the family of those killed.

Mujtaba Farooque, president of the recently launched political party Welfare Party of India (WPI), said, “The brutal way in which the police acted and fired at the unarmed villagers shows its biased mentality. There were ways through which the tragedy could have been averted but it’s complete highhandedness of the administration to think that it can kill innocent poor Muslims and no body will say anything.”
“The way Nitish Kumar government has handled the situation is completely unacceptable and the WPI is certainly going to raise the issue as the state as well as the national level,” added Farooque.
Both Farooque and Manzoor Alam said that the community organizations will take immediate and required action against this kind of brutality against the minorities which if not stopped then will continue.

Dr Alam said that Milli Council will soon get in touch with other community organization and will take action in three ways. First of all efforts will be made to collect the testimonies and witnesses of the case and think of the possibility of taking legal action against those responsible for the worst kind of human rights violation.
Besides writing a letter to National Human Rights Commission, a delegation will also meet the Chief Minister of the state and will press for action. Dr Alam said, “We will also try to bring together all the Muslim MLAs and MLCs of the state and bring about a political pressure on the state government.”
And if the state government doesn’t respond then community organizations will organize protest against the state brutality in Bihar as well as at the national level.
