Modi votes, says BJP will win

Ahmedabad : The people of Gujarat will vote in a BJP government for a third consecutive term, Chief Minister Narendra Modi said confidently as the second and final phase of assembly elections were held Monday.

“Going to cast my vote for Gujarat Elections 2012. Let’s vote and break our own record of the 1st phase!” Modi tweeted before he went to cast his vote.

Modi exercised his franchise at the Nishan High School in the Ranip area of northern Ahmedabad amid much fanfare, flashing a victory sign.

“I thank all the voters. The people of Gujarat will vote the BJP to power for a third consecutive term in this election,” Modi told mediapersons.

“I am committed to six crore Gujaratis. I live for them. I believe that I am also serving the country through my work in Gujarat. Gujarat is a part of the country and not outside it,” he added.

Voting has been going on since 8 a.m. in the second phase of polling in the Gujarat elections. According to officials, 35-40 per cent polling was recorded till 1 p.m.

Sixty-eight percent polling had been recorded in the first phase Dec 13 (Thursday). The votes will be counted Dec 20.
