Will Bulandshahr bail out Kalyan Singh?

By Faisal Fareed, TwoCircles.net,

Lucknow: Time is a great leveler. Former Chief Minister (CM) of UP, Kalyan Singh is no novice in politics. During the Ram wave he called the shots in the bhagwa brigade being the CM of UP. Such was his stature that he was promoted as national Vice President of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and was piped as the backward face of the BJP.

However, the political wheel took a turn and the same Kalyan Singh is now fighting for his political survival. The assembly elections in the state will decide his destiny.

Kalyan Singh

Kalyan ,after his bonhomie with Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav ended in 2010, floated his own party Jan Kranti Party (JKP) which is headed by his son former MLA Rajveer Singh while he is the patron.

Kalyan is concentrating mainly on Bulandshahr district which has a sizeable population of Lodh. His son Rajveer Singh is contesting from Dibai constituency. He had contested in 2007 UP elections also but lost to Bhagwan Sharma aka Guddu Pandit. Kalyan’s close aide Sunder Singh is also contesting from another seat, Syana. Sunder Singh is presently a BJP MLA from same seat but this time he has preferred JKP. Another close aide Hoshiyar Singh is contesting from Anoopshahr seat.

Other Kalyan supporters who are contesting include Sanjeev Rama from Bulandshahr, Satyaveer Singh from Khurja, Ashok Raghav from Shikarpur.

When Kalyan has shown the same flavor while he left the BJP and formed his Rashtriya Kranti Party (RKP) he has won four seats.

This time the bottomline is that he is trying to get few seats so that he remains relevant in present politics in the state.
