Thai Ambassador visits AMU; assured of one-year English Orientation Programme for Thai students

Aligarh: Chalit Manityakul, Thailand’s Ambassador to India, on Thursday urged the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) to provide better admission facilities to the Thai students aspiring to attend AMU.

During his visit to the AMU, Chalit also pointed out that a large number of Thai students are willing to study in AMU but owing to improper soft skills in English language, many aspirants in Thailand fail to meet the visa requirements, a release from AMU public relations officer said.

In reply, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (retd), AMU Vice Chancellor, assured Chalit that the University will start a one-year English Orientation Programme for Thai students.

Meanwhile, the Thai Ambassador also informed the Vice Chancellor that students in Thailand with the help and guidance of Thai AMU alumni are encouraged to attend AMU for higher learning. He visited the heritage buildings of the University, including the Strachey Hall, which is the oldest of AMU buildings. He also visited the Maulana Azad Library where he inspected rare manuscripts.

Chalit also visited the Kennedy Hall and Musa Dakari Museum which houses rare artifacts including centuries-old statues of Gautam Budha, the release added.
