New Delhi: Demanding extradition of David Coleman Headley and Tawahhur Hussain Rana to India to unravel their role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, Subhash Chowdhary, chairman, Non-Aligned Students and Youth Movement (NASYM), has said that Headley’s role in the attack has put the credibility of the US at stake.
The US must tell the world about the exact story of Headley and whether the conspiracy for 26/11 was hatched on the US soil by elements of Al-Qaeda, LeT, HuJi and others, Chowdhary said. “The truth should prevail if the fight against terror has to be fought with sincerity of determination and intention,” he said.
“The NASYM demands that Headley and Rana be extradited to India to unravel their role in the 26/11 terror attack and hopes that the investigations into the Headley case also highlight the significance of timely, transparent and effective international cooperation for defeating terrorism.”
The recent revelations have proved beyond doubt that David Coleman Headley was not a low level cannon fodder type operative but instead enjoyed the support and patronage of the US prime agency, the CIA, he said.
Mr. Chowdhary said that the US administration must look deeper into the conspiracy that led to Mumbai terror attack and the extent of involvement of Headley and his associate Rana and the support they enjoyed from intelligence and terror agencies. “A fair probe and an in-depth investigation can unravel the mystery of Mumbai terror attack which was sponsored by Pakistan led terror group operating under the supervision of CIA.
“Who pulled the strings of these terror groups operating in Pakistan and which international forces were behind the designs supporting it from outside” Mr Chowdhary said.
While it is important that Pakistan must be told in clear terms the terror infrastructure operating on its soil be dismantled with immediate effect, Mr Chowdhary said that the US agencies must also clear their own stables where people like Osama Laden and Headley have enjoyed large support.
