Tata Power gets first CDM project registered

New Delhi: India’s largest private power utility, Tata Power, Wednesday announced the approval of its first clean development mechanism (CDM) registered project.

A company press release said that United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change has approved Tata Power’s application for registration of a 50.4 MW Khandke wind farm in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district.

“This is Tata Power’s first CDM registered project. The Khandke project is expected to earn 85,000 Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) annually from UNFCCC,” said the press release.

Tata Power already has a generation capacity of over 2,900 MW, with wind power accounting for 200 MW.
