Diego, considered one of the best players of the German league, said Thursday that Ronaldinho Gaucho and Kaka are real strong contenders. “There are already two of the best players in the world at my position. The competition is very high at midfield.”

Nevertheless, this does not mean that Diego will be complacent with a seat on the bench. “That is not why I am here,” claimed Diego, referring to his status as a reserve player. “I will always fight for a chance to play. The competition is very high. I have to take advantage of every opportunity I have.”

The 22-year-old has already participated in 20 games for the Brazilian team and has scored one goal while on the field. Diego is anxious and ready for the chance to play in Sao Paulo against Uruguay in Morumbi stadium.

“It would be fantastic. I love to play there. I only have good memories of Morumbi,” he said.

The Brazilian team plays Uruguay next Wednesday night in Sao Paulo in an eliminatory match for the 2010 World Cup.
