Quoting Nepali Embassy officials in Abu Dhabi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said on Monday that the Dubai immigration authorities were planning to send them back to Nepal while 100 out of “about 200-250 Nepali workers” have left Dubai for Iraq.

The detained Nepalis are being sent to Nepal because they do not have visa neither for UAE nor for Iraqi.

“Immigration authorities are asking the airlines to take back their passengers to the city from where they boarded them,” a MoFA statement said.

While the MoFA is clueless about the exact number of Nepalis detained in Dubai, news reports put the number at 105. They were arrested on Friday from a godown near the Dubai International Airport where they had been living since two weeks without enough food.

The Nepali youths were on their way to Iraq to work in American companies. Most of them are from Morang, Jhapa, Sunsari, Udaypur and Okhaldhunga districts.
