The all-rounder made his comeback at the weekend in Lancashire's friendly clash with Sri Lanka A, playing as a batsman only, and is now playing for his county in the county championship Division One clash with Sussex at Liverpool.

Flintoff has already stated his intention to make an international return in the one-day series with India, which begins Aug 21 at the Rose Bowl, and Graveney insists the 29-year-old is on course to achieve that goal.

"It's great that he's back playing," he told BBC Radio.

"He's started to bowl in nets and there's nothing that I've heard to the contrary that would prevent him from playing in the one-dayers towards the back-end of the month.

"Hopefully he will be available for that, and he has certainly indicated that will be the case."
