Iraqi PM urges accord front to return to Govt

Baghdad : Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki hoped the Accord Front would return to his government after he rejected resignations of Front’s ministers on Sunday.

Al-Maliki, at a joint news conference with President Jalal Talabani and Vice-President Adel Abdulmahdi, said the spirit of the teamwork and cooperation existed between the conflicting parties before and after the removal of Saddam Hussein.

He urged the ministers of the Accord Front to return to the government of national unity. Al-Maliki said more cooperation was needed between the Premiership and the presidency to face any hurdle against the political process.

Talabani, who said the discussed with Al-Maliki the political situation in the country, said the withdrawal of the Accord Front would be discussed in the upcoming meeting of the political leaders.

He said all parties should join hands to develop performance of the government and commit to the political program.
