Thiruvananthapuram : With the rift between Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) party secretary Pinarayi Vijayan widening, all eyes are now on the party meeting later this week that will be attended by seniors from Delhi.

Under attack from the Achuthanandan faction over his links with media baron Farris Abubacker, Vijayan Tuesday refused to answer any questions on the reported corruption charge levelled by the chief minister and said he would only speak after the party meeting was over.

“We are capable and will deal with any sort of corruption even if involves our party men, but I am not going to explain the difference of opinion in my party. Our party is meeting later this week and once a decision is taken I myself will explain it to everyone,” said Vijayan.

The feud between the two suspended politburo members worsened last week when Achuthanandan lashed out at top party leaders for reportedly taking Rs.6 million from Abubacker for the Nayanar memorial football tournament in Kannur.

Achuthanandan called Abubacker a ‘tainted’ person.
