The LME registration, recognised worldwide as one of the most demanding standards, signifies highest product quality, uniform physical characteristics and consistency of lead ingots, the company said in a statement Saturday.

The product registration, branded Vedanta 99.99, denotes a 99.99 percent purity of lead produced and signifies that these lead ingots are acceptable for delivery at the LME warehouse.

Lead is mainly used in automobile batteries, a fast-growing industry in developing countries including India.

Hindustan Zinc is India’s only integrated producer of zinc and is among the world’s leading integrated zinc and lead producers, the statement said.

It has zinc metal production capacity of 400 kilo tonnes per annum (KTPA). The smelters are situated at Rajasthan’s Chanderiya and Debari and Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam and its mines are situated at Rajasthan’s Zawar, Dariba and Rampura Agucha.

The LME registration relates to the lead ingots produced at Chanderiya, 120 km east of here.
