Chandigarh : All villages in Chandigarh will have solar powered street lighting by the end of this year, an official said Monday.
A spokesman of the administration of the union territory said that solar street lighting would be provided by December.
Nearly 160 solar street light points are likely to be installed at a cost of Rs.4.5 million in 11 villages of the city. Two villages, Kaimbwala and Mauli Jagran, already have solar street lighting.
The lighting is being provided under a rural development project.
