Harare : Kevin Curran’s reign as Zimbabwe coach ended as Zimbabwe Cricket announced Robin Brown, a former national team captain of the 1980s, as a replacement.
Brown takes over Sep 1 and his first task will be leading Zimbabwe at the Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa the same month.
Curran succeeded former West Indies all-rounder Phil Simmons in September 2005 and was in charge of Zimbabwe for 42 matches, winning just nine, losing 28.
The 56-year-old Brown went to the West Indies as assistant coach to Curran for the 2007 Cricket World Cup but was not part of the support staff during the tours by India A, South Africa A and South Africa.
Curran’s departure Monday came a day after former Zimbabwe captain Tatenda Taibu, who has had an outstanding batting record since returning to the fold last month, made it clear that he did not have a good working relationship with the outgoing coach.
