Oruro, Bolivia : Bolivia’s Constituent Assembly approved by majority the presidential re-election for a constitutional period, the revocation of the mandate and the change of name of Parliament.
In a marathon session started on Saturday, the Assembly approved such articles by over two-thirds of votes.
The future Magna Carta establishes in its article 167 that the president and vice president of the State will be elected by universal suffrage, with half plus one valid votes.
The National Congress will be called Plurinational Legislative Assembly, made up of a Chamber of Deputies and another of Departmental Representatives.
It will have 121 deputies and 36 senators (four for each department), all of them elected by universal vote and with the mission to approve, sanction the country’s laws.
According to article 154, ordinary sessions of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly will start on August 6 every year; they will be permanent and have two 15-day recess.
The new Carta Magna established in article 172 the revocation or reversal of the post of President of the Republic, which will then be assumed by the acting vice president, who will have 90 days to call elections.
