Baig sworn-in as minister; Qazi resumes office

Jammu : Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig was today sworn-in as a minister in Jammu and Kashmir cabinet thus paving a way for a minor cabinet reshuffle.

Baig, who was nominated by his party for the post of deputy chief minister, was administered oath by Governor Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha, here on Monday.

In another important development, Qazi Muhammad Afzal `Man Friday’ of PDP Patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, returned to his office as Housing and Urban Development minister, after remaining on protest from last more than six months. He has been assured to get back his forest portfolio, from which he was stripped off after an alleged scam surfaced in the department.

Talking to the media persons, on the sidelines of oath ceremony, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad announced the reshuffle of the portfolios would be done after bye-elections of Poonch assembly constituency scheduled on December 12.
