The warrant was issued by a court in Rajpura, around 40 km from here, against the controversial officer presently serving as additional director general of police (ADGP) in the hill state.

Thind is accused of cheating a US-based woman of six acres of her prime land in Kharar town in Punjab using forged documents.

The officer is facing other cases in various Punjab courts after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) found him involved in shady land leads around Chandigarh and in seeking loans worth millions of rupees from different banks by presenting forged documents.

He was arrested by the CBI last year and remained behind bars for several days.

Thind is considered close to present Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and has enjoyed important postings in the state.
