Kolkata : Akshay Butta shot a one-under par 71 to grab the first day’s honours in the LG Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) Cup that teed off at the historic golf club here.
Akshay was chased by a pack of three amateurs – Saurav Bahuguna, Rahul Bajaj and Sri Lankan Mithun Perera who all signed in cards of level par 72 to be tied for the second place here Tuesday. This is the 10th leg of the LG Indian Amateur Golf Tour 2007-08 season.
Top contenders Abhishek Jha, Simarjeet Singh, Gagan Verma and Tarun Gogale shot a one-over 73 to be tied for the fifth place while the man in form Manav Das shared the ninth place along with Jan Mohammed, Rudresh Sharma and Pawan Kumar at two-over 74
With the players huddled together by a close margin, the next three days should provide some exciting action.
