Dhaka, Dec 13 (Xinhua) The Bangladesh Meteorological Department and Britain’s National Weather Service have signed an agreement to provide technical consultancy for forecast of hurricanes and cyclones in Bangladesh, private news agency UNB reported Thursday.
The agreement was signed Wednesday by the international business manager of the British Met Office, Philip Beauvais, and director of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department Samarendra Karmakar.
“I congratulate the Bangladesh Meteorological Board and applaud them for their hard work during cyclone Sidr,” said Kevin Ringham, director trade and investment at the British High Commission in Dhaka.
“Working with the British Met Office will further enhance Bangladesh’s forecasting capabilities,” he said.
