Exhibition of contemporary art from Pakistan to commence in Mumbai on Saturday

NEW DELHI, Dec. 14: Indus Strokes an exhibition of contemporary art from Pakistan will commence in Mumbai on Saturday.

The exhibition being organized jointly by Ishi Jami from Pakistan and Ritu Jain from India in association with other organisations including Pakistan International Airlines, will be participated by twenty eight artists from Pakistan.

Leading Indian writer Javed Akhtar will be the guest of honour on the occasion. The Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah will also be guest of honour on November 18.

The creative works on display are based on diversity of expression from every region and will include the classic genres, the abstracts, figuratives, the references to traditional schools of calligraphy and the extraordinary modern miniature development that has emerged in recent years. There will be a very prominent section on miniature art also.

The artists from Pakistan include Meher Afroz, Abrar Ahmed, Saeed Akhtar, A.Q. Arif, Mansur Aye, Moeen Faruqi, Ismael Gulgee, Wahab Jaffar, Tariq Javed, Ahmed Khan, Hajra Mansur, Eqbal Mehdi, A.R.. Nagori, Mansur Rahi, Mashkoor Raza, Nahid Raza, Mughees Riaz, Farrukh Shahab, Tassaduq Sohail and G.N. Qazi.

The Miniaturists include Asif Ahmed, Sobia Ahmed, Shoaib Mehmood, Usmaan Saeed, Kiran Saeed, Aakif Suri and Safdar Qureshi.

Ishi Jami said the exhibition will give the art enthusiasts of Mumbai an opportunity to view the work of leading artists of Pakistan. These artists have a keen understanding and appreciation of their country’s rich cultural heritage as well as an awareness of international trends. They use a vibrant assortment of techniques and textures to portray their emotions.
